The Pangbourne and Whitchurch Sustainability Group (PAWS) was founded in 2010. It is a not-for-profit community organisation with the aim:
To promote and encourage the development of a sustainable local community.
Our particular aims are:
- Reduce community carbon footprint;
- Promote sustainability projects, act as a source of sustainability advice to the community and foster the biodiversity of the local natural environment.
PAWS draws together the communities of Pangbourne and Whitchurch to work towards a common purpose. It is independent of, but supported by, both parish councils.
The founding joint chairs were Peter McManners and Heather Thorne. Peter is a local author and passionate advocate for a sustainable society. Heather has been active locally for many years as chair of the St James Environment Committee.
The founding constitution was adopted on 5th March 2010.
The officers of PAWS elected at the AGM on 15 May 2020 are:
Jackie Hoskins – Chairperson
Jo Smith – Secretary
Jon Ashford -Treasurer.
